If you ever leave me baby,
Leave some morphine at my door
‘Cause it would take a whole lot of medication
To realize what we used to have,
We don’t have it anymore.
Leave some morphine at my door
‘Cause it would take a whole lot of medication
To realize what we used to have,
We don’t have it anymore.
Hyunjoong calm himself as he watched her turned to him and wave goodbye. It took him a lot of strength not to slump on the floor when his heart was breaking into pieces. When she turned her back and started walking away, he almost run to her but he felt his manager’s grip on his arms.
“People will know it’s you, Hyunjoong-ah. Let her be.” But then he tried to wriggle free. His manager now holds him tighter and uttered.
“Do you want her to be mobbed by your fans? Do you want her to be on the headlines? Think, Hyunjoong. Think about her. Don’t be too irrational.”
When his manager mentioned this, it seemed like someone threw water at him. No, he doesn’t want her to be caught by her fans. He can never let them hurt her. This is the mere reason why he kept his relationship with her a scret for so long-to protect her
He swatted his manager’s arm but just stood there. Waiting, watching till he can’t see her no more. He stood there for almost an hour, just looking at people passing by. If not only for his manager who keeps on tugging him, he wouldn’t leave. Head down, Hyunjoong let him guide him back to the company’s van but making sure that no one’s going to notice them.
As soon as they arrived in their hotel, Hyunjoong locked himself up in his room. His emotions on awry, he reached for his phone and dial her number. Hyejung’s phone was off but he kept on dialing. Frustrated, he threw his phone on the wall, it fell on the floor broken- just like his heart. Only then he realized that he’s been crying. He loved her more than anything in this world but it’s too late. He thought he was protecting her by keeping their relationship a secret but in the end, it only pushed her away from him.
Hyunjoong’s manager slowly entered the idol’s room after several hours. He was staying on the room next to him and he heard him crying for some time. He pity Hyunjoong but what can he do. He’s too famous that everything he does will be picked up by the press people and fans. He knew of Hyunjoong’s relationship with Hwangbo, he knew that he really loved her just as much as the woman loved him back. He tried to help them in some ways he could but it’s just really tough. Now that Hyejung decided to leave Hyunjoong, he never blamed her. She endured four years already.
He found Hyunjoong sprawled in the bed, a half empty bottle of tequila in one hand, while the other hand clutched a small square box. His manager also found his Macbook on the floor so he picked it up. He was about to turn in off when he accidentally saw something. Hyunjoong booked an early flight the next day to Seoul. He left him to sleep; he draped a blanket over him and just vowed to wake him tomorrow so he can catch his flight.
Hyunjoong can barely open his eyes but someone’s been shaking him. He almost hit the person but then he heard him said.
“If you want to bring her back, put yourself together, Hyunjoong-ssi. Take a shower now so we can fly back to Seoul.” And he hand him two capsules and the glass of water.
Hyunjoong took the medicine and head to the shower. When he came out dressed, his bags were already packed and ready to leave.
“Thank you, Hyung and I’m sorry for acting like an idiot ” Hyunjoong uttered after several minutes of silence. They were already on the way to the airport and since it’s just two in the morning, roads were still deserted. They arrived in the airport in no time, checked in and boarded easily. All the while his manager just nod and just let him be. After a few hours, he was dropped off in his place in Apgujeung. He thanked his manager and took his bag but before he walked away, his manager told him.
“Hyejung is one tough woman, Hyunjoong. You have to prove that you’re worth all the tears.”
Hyunjoong just nodded and went his way to his apartment. Cold and darkness greeted him. He turned on the lights and head to his room. His heart ached all the more when he saw Hyejung’s picture on the wall. She was sitting on the shore, her head turned to him and she was smiling sweetly. He took this photo in one of their secret rendezvous in Jeju Island. She was happy, even her eyes were smiling. He loved the picture and he asked a friend to frame it so he can hang it on his bedroom wall. Now staring at it, he wondered what went wrong. Hyejung seemed to be happy; they were okay as far as he knew. Her asking for break up came as a surprise.
Hyunjoong decided to take a shower and then left his house. He tried calling Hyejung but she’s not answering. He then went to her place pushed the password and he was surprised that it didn't work. Thinking that he just entered a wrong password, he tried again but still it won’t open. Hyejung already changed the code. He banged on the door, but no one answered. He waited for almost thirty minutes yet his calls were unanswered. Head down, he doesn't have any choice but to just leave.
Now it’s more than a months since Hyejung left him. Every day he would call her, he would send flowers and drop by her place but she was really elusive. He tried to contact her friends, but all of them kept mum about her where about. It seemed like she really doesn't want for him to find her. Hyunjoong beg for his manager not to schedule anything. He even requested for a meeting with Keyeast and advised them that he’s going on a vacation and he wanted to rest. But in reality, he was just in Seoul, looking for the woman he loves.
It was already two in the morning when Hyunjoong decided to drop by in Hongdae. He just came from Hyejung’s place but he just waited in vain. He was sipping cola while listening to the man playing guitar and singing in the street when he heard a laugh that he can recognize where ever he is. He turned to where he heard the sound and there he found her. Hwangbo Hyejung laughing with her friends as they walk towards the nearby parking area. He ran after her but he was also careful for her not to see him. When they got in the car, Hyunjoong followed after them. When they reached her apartment, he saw her friends leaving. He waited for about a few minutes and followed after her. She was already closing the door when he reached for her. He gently pushed her in and closed the door.
“Hyejung-ah, I'm going crazy looking for you. I miss you so much.” He told her. His voice croaked as he tried to fight his tears.
“ Hyunjoong-ah what are you doing here? I told you we’re over. Please stop this.” Hyejung replied.
“Hyejung, please, let’s work things out. I can’t live without you. I’ll leave the industry if you asked me to. Just please come back to me.” He pleaded.
“I know what kind of man you are Hyunjoong. You are strong .You’re just hurt so you’re saying these things. Give yourself time and you will soon forget about me.” She refutes- her face void of any emotion.
“Tell me you love me no more, only then will I leave you,Hyejung” Hyunjoong although unsure dared her. He moved closer to her and took her by the shoulders.
Hyejung stared back at him, smiled and answered. “I don’t love you anymore.”
Hyunjoong shook his head in disbelief. Hyejung removed his hands and walk towards the door. He was still dazed but he walked towards her. His tears falling he tried to look at her but she turned her face from him. He walked out and watched as the door closed in his face.
Hyunjoong spend the whole week in his apartment. He would just look at their pictures, watched their videos together and reminisce. He knew that it’ll only hurt him all the more but he can’t let go of her yet. He kept on replaying her video message for their last anniversary.
“I love you, Shillang- my Hyunjoong-ah. I will love you till my last breath. I will do anything just to make you happy. I promise that my heart will always be yours.”
One evening, his manager insisted to come over his place even if he refused. He just simply gave him a newspaper and said.
“It’s time to move on, Hyunjoong-ah.”
Three days after that incident, a big press conference was held in Seoul Regency. The press didn't know who called it and what the event was for but all they knew was that it’s a big artist. They all gasped and cameras began clicking when they saw Hyunjoong walked in the stage.
“Good evening everyone, I’ll just make this very short and we won’t be entertaining any question.” He paused and continued as the press wait with abated breath.
“I will be entering military by tomorrow. I just came to let you all know and perform one more time before I go. I wish everyone will wish me well and see you all in two years.”
The room turned into a big pandemonium but they all settled down a bit when Hyunjoong sat by the piano on the side of the stage.
“To the woman, whom I will love forever. I’m sorry for hurting you and for all those years I made you cry. I wish you’d be happy and that you’d find the man who will love you the way you deserve to be loved. I wish you’d find your one true love and I wish you all the great things in life. I love you so much that even if it hurts, I wish you will be truly happy with him” Hyunjoong confessed and started singing.
Same bed, but it feels just a little bit bigger now
Our song on the radio, but it don't sound the same
When our friends talk about you all that it does is just tear me down
Cause my heart breaks a little when I hear your name
And it all just sound like uh, uh, uh
Hmmm too young, too dumb to realize
That I should have bought you flowers and held your hand
Should have gave you all my hours when I had the chance
Take you to every party cause all you wanted to do was dance
Now my baby is dancing, but she's dancing with another man.

“I love you, Hyejung. Be happy.” And he broke down in tears as he walked out of the stage. He was walking too fast that a cut out page of a newspaper fell from his hand. On it written in bold letters
