If ever you’re in my arms again
Flashes of camera and screaming of fans greeted Hyunjoong as
he stepped out of the gate of the military camp. He was surprised to see a very
big crowd and throng of press people waiting for him. It’s been two years since
he entered the military and this is the first time for him to again face his
fans. He can’t help but be overwhelmed as h e saw his fans, waving their
banners, screaming and even crying as they saw him. He stood in the makeshift
stage and greeted everyone.
“Hello everyone. This is Kim Hyun Joong. It’s nice to see
all of you here. Thank you for your warm welcome. I can’t believe that you’re
still here to support me after two years that I’ve been out of the industry.
Thank you very much and see you around.”
He bowed and a representative from Key East assisted him as
he made his way towards his car. His driver was already waiting and they drove
off immediately. He advised the driver to send him first to Key east office.When he arrived in Key east, Bae Yong Joon, greeted him. They
went to one of the conference room so they can discuss.
“It’s nice to see you again, Hyun Joong-ssi. I can see that
the military camp do you good." Bae Yong Joon started.
“I learn a lot and I’m a changed man, Hyung.” He simply
replied.
“That’s good to hear. Well, you know that a lot of project
already awaits you but we all know that you need time to rest and spend with
your family. Just tell us when you’re ready so we can fix your schedule.” Yong
joon added.
“Thanks, Hyung. We can meet next week. I will just take a
short vacation in Jeju.” Hyunjoong replied.
“That’s okay. Then we’ll see you next week. Enjoy your
vacation. I’m sure you’ll be very busy after since your fans really missed you
a lot. It’s nice to have you back, Hyunjoong-ssi.” And Bae Yong Joon stood up
and shook his hands.
“Thank you, Hyung. I’m also excited to work again. I’ll see
you all next week.” HyunJoong answered
and the meeting ended.
Hyunjoong decided to stay in his parents’ house for a couple
of days before going to Jeju. He went straight to Ilsan and drop by at Jaksal
to fetch his mother. He used the backdoor so as not to create any commotion and
went to the office of the restaurant. He gently knocked on the door and his
mother’s smiling face greeted him.
“Welcome back, son. I missed you.” And she hugged and let
him in the office.
“I missed you too, Mom. Sorry if I rarely visited you the
last two years.” He replied.
“Its okay, Joongie, I understand.” And she let him take a
seat and called a staff to bring food for her son.
They chatted comfortably while Hyunjoong eats; He told her
stories about what he did in the military and how it changed him. His mother
listens intently and after sometime she asked him.
“ Joongie, are you ready to go back to the entertainment
industry?”
“Yes, Mom. I already talked to my company and contracts were
already being drawn for my next projects. I will just go to Jeju for vacation
then its work for me again.” He replied with a smile.
“But what about her, Joongie? Are you really over her?” His Mom asked again. She saw how devastated
Hyunjoong was when Hyejung left him. She can still remember the night before
her son went to the military. He went to their place to pay respect and spend
time with them. They enjoyed dinner, the whole family was there and they all
avoided any discussion about Hyejung. It was already three in the morning when
Mrs. Kim woke up all of a sudden. She heard rustling on the living room so she
decided to check. She quietly opened their bedroom door and took a few steps.
Her heart breaks into two when she saw Hyunjoong on the couch watching the
video of last year’s Chuseok. He was just staring at the screen; it was paused
to the image of him and Hyejung sitting beside each other both with a smile on
their face when the couple had dinner with his family.
Mrs Kim can’t help but walk towards his son. She sat beside
him and Hyunjoong asked without removing his eyes from the screen.
“Omma, will I ever find someone like her again? “
Mrs.Kim draped an arm on his son’s shoulder and gently
whispered.
“ Hyunjoong-ah, I believe that in time you will find the
woman who you will spend your life with. If Hyejung and you are meant to be,
then fate will bring her back. If it not her then there‘s someone else who will
be worthy of your love. “
“I don’t know, Omma. I just hope that the 2 years in military
will heal everything. It just hurt so
much. I love her with everything that I am.” Hyunjoong answered, his voice
trembling.
“I know, son and I saw how she loved you back. But
sometimes, good things have to end to give way to a better one. In time we will
understand the reason behind everything. Just be strong and be the Hyunjoong
that I know.” His mother comforted.
“I will try to be a better man, Omma. Thank you for always
being there.” And he hugged his mother.
“Are you over her Hyunjoong-ah?” his mother’s question
startled Hyunjoong. He took a deep breath before he answered.
“I don’t know, Omma. I still think of her and missed her a
lot. She has ruined me for any other woman. I’m not over her yet but I’ve learn
to let her go. If she’s happy with him, then I’ll let her be. As for me, I’ll
work harder for my fans. I miss performing and that’s all I need to do now.”
Hyunjoong explained.
“In time you’ll be happy too, son. I know because you are a
good soul. Anyway, let’s cut this drama. Help me fix my things so we can go
home. Your father might already be home.” And Mrs. Kim gently swatted his arm.
After a few minutes, mother and son head home hand in hand.
Hyunjoong spend two days in his parents’ place before flying
to Jeju. He invited his friend Jaejong and Top to join him and the two readily
agreed since they don’t have schedules yet. They will stay in the hotel they
usually frequent to whenever they head in this lovely place. They had fun in the water, enjoying the sun
and just goofing around. The security in the hotel is really tight so they were
able to take a time out of the limelight. They had dinner and a few drinks too
before Top and Jaejong decided to go to the hotel’s casino.
Hyunjoong decided
to go ahead and just sleep. The two friends tried to persuade him to play for a
bit but he refused. He head to his room but sleep will not come to him. He’s
feeling nostalgic since this hotel was where they also usually stay when
Hyejung and he were still together.
Hyunjoong decided to stroll near the sea
shore. The weather’s nice and stars are out. He didn't notice that he already
walked too far and reached a big tent where a party was in full swing. He was
torn whether to continue walking or go back to the hotel. He chose to start
walking fast and tried to pass by unnoticed. He took a sigh of relief when he
was able to continue his stroll. He sat down on the sand, deciding to rest for
a minute before heading back to their hotel. He was in deep thought when he noticed
a figure approaching. He simply ignored it but then a very familiar voice
called out to him.
“Hyunjoong-ssi?”
Hyunjoong’s whole body tensed. He hurriedly stood up and
turned to face the person. He took a deep breath and uttered.
“Hyejung-ssi it’s nice to see you again.”
“When were you discharged of the military?” she asked with a
smile.
Hyunjoong almost scoffed at her. How can she talk to him
like nothing happened? How can she sound so sincere and interested when two
years ago she left and broke his heart? Hyunjoong was about to answer but then
someone called Hyejung’s name.
“Hyejung-ah, I’ve been looking for you. Why did you left the
party?” a smiling Kang Dong Won asked as he approached.
And the heart that Hyunjoong thought already healed
instantly crumbled into pieces.
