Somewhere Over the Rainbow

Hello guys! I had a great night with Joongbo sisters last Friday night for Hwangbo's birthday. And because of that, here's an update for all of you. Leave me some love, will you  Honestly, it inspires me to update faster..lol..

Chapter 16

Hwangbo felt disappointed upon reading Hyunjoong’s note. She thought that they can spend the day together. She decided to just take a shower then head downstairs.

She reached the dining hall and a smiling Butler Sol greeted her.

“Good morning, Hyejung-ssi. Happy birthday! We’ve prepared your breakfast. Just take a seat.”

“Good morning Butler Sol. Thank you for the greeting. Would you know what time Hyunjoong left?” she enquired.

“He left at around eight o clock. “ He simply answered.

Just then they heard honking of cars outside. She ran towards the foyer and was delighted to see her friends.

“Hwangbo-yah!” Baek Boram, Song Unni, and Bongsun, hollered as they ran towards her side. She met them on the steps and embraced each member.

“Girls, thank you for coming over! I hope you’ll enjoy today’s party.” Hyejung welcome them.

“This estate is really beautiful, Hwangbo-ya! You’re soooo lucky!” Boram exclaimed.

“I’ll tour you around the estate later. For now let’s all have breakfast.” And she asked them to head to the dining room.

They enjoyed eating breakfast in between nonstop chatting and teasing. After their meal, Hwangbo toured them inside the main house. When they reached her room, Song Eunnie asked.

“Hwangbo-yah, tell me honestly, are you and Hyunjoong together now?”

“I’m not sure, Unnie.” Hwangbo replied sincerely.

“What do you mean? “ Boram seconded.

Hyejung sat on her bed while her friends eagerly wait for her explanation.

“You all know that this estate belongs to us, right?” the girls just nodded.

“Ever since then, he’d call me and we go out. We spend weekends here. But, then there’s Myungsoo. He already confessed to me and Hyunjoong knew about it. He said I can go out with Myungsoo and he’s going to prove himself. But then when I did went out with the lawyer he kept on calling me.” She narrated.

“I guess, he’s trying to test his opponent. But mind you, Hyejung, Atty.Park is not bad. If you’re not interested in him, you can introduce him to me.” Boram answered in a glimmer in her eyes.

“Yah,Baek Boram. You already have a boyfriend yet you’re interested in Atty.Park.” Eunnie chastised Boram.

“Well, Im just saying that she can introduce him to me.” Boram reasoned out.

“Don’t worry girls. I’ll introduce him later. I invited him.” Hwangbo replied with a smile.

“Hyunjoong’s okay with that?”  Eunie asked again.

“He said I can invite my friends. He’ll be okay with it.” she assured them.

“Yah, what did Hyunjoong gave you?” Bongsun asked after being silent and just looking around her room.

“He woke me up at exactly 12 midnight. He had a cake in his hand and he was singing. He gave a bouquet after.” Hwangbo dreamily told them.

“That’s it? He didn’t even give you something expensive?” Bongsun asked again.

“I don’t know if he will give me anything today. He made all the arrangement for tonight’s party and that’s enough.”  She defended Hyunjoong.

“And how did you thank him in return? “ Boram sleazily asked.

“Yah, Yah!” she exclaimed with a blush.

“Hyejung-ah, should we prepare our gift for a godchild soon?” Bongsun followed Boram’s teasing.

“Yah! Nothing happened to us...” she defended but the girls gave her a “We don’t believe you” smirk.

“Okay okay. We kissed. That’s it. Nothing more.” She confessed.

“Even if you’re sharing a room?” Eunnie asked.

“We’re not sharing – it’s an adjoining room. He stays there while I sleep here.”  Hwangbo clarified.

“If that’s what you say.” And her friends just laughed at her.

They all decided to tour the estate since they still have some free time. They were almost out of the house when Butler Sol approached them.

“Hyejung-ssi, I’m sorry but Hyunjoong-ssi told me not to let you go out of the house. He doesn’t want you to spoil his surprise.” Butler Sol gently ordered.

“Is that so?” she asked in dismay.

“Don’t worry; he prepared something for you in the entertainment room. You and your friends can go there now.” The butler offered.

The girls head to the entertainment room and Hyejung squealed in excitement when she saw a stack of DVD- all movies and series starring her ideal guy- Kang Dong Won. She picked it up and saw a note attached.

“Hope you’ll have fun times with your friends. I know you’ll be mad at me if I will not let you out of the house. But with him on my side, I bet you’ll be very happy.”

Hyejung and her friends started their marathon. They didn’t notice the time passed and they were startled when they heard a knock.

“Hyejung-ssi. It’s time to prepare for the party. Hyunjoong-ssi said that the party will start at seven.” A staff politely told her.

“Oh, okay. Come on girls. We’ll continue this some other time.” she told her friends and they all get ready for the party.

When Hyejung reached her room, she was surprised to see a big box in her bed.

“This is just another gift for you. I can’t wait to see you tonight.” Shillang.

She picked up the purple Venus cut dress and wears it. She paired in with the purple stiletto shoes and clutch that was inside the box. She was very pleased with everything. She put on a little make up then decided to call Hyunjoong.  She called him three times but he was not answering. She was again disappointed but decided to just wait for him to arrive.

Her friends knocked in her room and they all head out to the gazebo where the party will be held. Strings of lights and paper cranes adorned the area. A big and appetizing buffet was set on the side. There’s also a string quartet playing soft music and a dj on standby.

“This is gonna be fun, Hyejung-ah!” Boram shrieked as she made her way to the party tables.

Guests arrived one by one. Ahn Young-Mi came with Kim Shin Yong followed by Shin Era and her husband. Her friends from Compassion came too. Hyejung entertained her guest but she can’t help but worry that Hyunjoong has not yet arrived. She was talking to Shin Era when she heard someone call her- it was Park Myungsoo.

“Happy birthday Hyejung-ssi. You’re very lovely tonight.” The lawyer greeted as he hand her a box and a bouquet of tulips.

“Thank you, Myungsoo-ssi. I’m glad you can come. Why didn’t you bring your parents?” She amiably replied.

“Mom’s a bit under the weather and Dad stayed with her. They just told me to invite you to our house sometime so they can give you their gift.” Myungsoo explained.

“I hope your Mom will be okay soon. Send them my regards and I’ll check if I can visit them sometime.” Hyejung replied. “Come and I’ll introduce you to my friends.” And she walked towards the Muhan Girls’ table.

“Hey, girls, this is Atty Park Myungsoo. “ Hwangbo introduced the lawyer to her friends. The girls introduced themselves and chat with him as Hyejung entertained the other guest.

It’s almost two hours since the party started but Hyunjoong still hasn't arrived. Hyejung started to feel dismayed but she tried to hide it. Just then all the lights went off making her gasp. When the lights came back she was surprised to see a big birthday cake in the centre of the table and her mother smiling at her. Everybody started singing the birthday song as she walked towards her cake and stood beside her mother. When the song finished she closed her eyes as she made a wish and blew the candles. Just then she met a pair of eyes she’d been waiting for the whole night. Hyunjoong was now standing beside her mother smiling at her. She can’t help but walked towards him and wrapped him in her arms.

“Happy birthday, Buin.” He whispered in her ears.

“I was worried about you. I was thinking you will not be here to celebrate with me.” She confessed.

“How can that be, baby? I’ve been waiting and preparing for this. I just wanted to surprise you.” He replied adoringly. Hyejung gently let go and turn to her mom.

“Mom, thank you for coming. You said you’ll be going on vacation and you can’t be with me. Thank you for still coming here.” And Hyejung hugged her mother.

“I was not going on a vacation. Hyunjoong asked me to surprise you. He fetched me this morning in Busan. You should thank him.” Her mother replied with a smile.

Hyejung reached for Hyunjoong’s hand and squeezed it.

“Buin, I invited another guest tonight. I hope you wouldn’t mind.” Hyunjoong said to her. Hyejung just smiled and Hyunjoong walked towards a table to fetch his guest.

“Hyejung-ah, I invited my mother. She was so eager to meet you again.” Hyunjoong introduced his mother.

“Happy birthday Hyejung-ssi. I requested Hyunjoong to take me with him when he told me that you’re going to have a party.”  Hyunjoong’s mother greeted her.

“Thank you for coming, Mrs.Kim. It’s so nice to see you again. I hope you’ll stay here for the weekend.” Hyejung warmly replied.

“Your mother and mom will stay with us till the weekend.” Hyunjoong answered.

“That’s great, Hyunjoong!” she exclaimed. “Mom come on, let’s get your food. I’m sure you’re tired from the trip.” And she ushered her mother and Hyunjoong’s on their table. The Muhan Girls’s and Hyejung’s friends dropped by their table when they saw the elder women.

“Hyunjoong-ah, I invited Atty. Park. I hope you’re okay with it.” Hyejung whispered while they were eating. Hyunjoong just nodded in understanding.

Atty Park watched as the two interact with each other. He can’t help but felt hurt. He really likes Hyejung but he can see how close she is with Hyunjoong. If she didn’t tell him before, he’ll assume that the two are together. He needs to re assess his stand- whether he’ll give her up or continue pursuing her. He decided to call it a night and just head home early. He made his way to the couple’s table so he can bid goodbye.

“Hyejung-ssi, I’ll be heading home. I need to check on my parents.” Atty Park politely informed.

“Thank you for coming Myungsoo-ssi. I hope you enjoyed the party.” Hwangbo replied.

“It’s a fun party and I enjoyed meeting your friends. I hope you enjoy the rest of your night. Hyunjoong-ssi I’ll go ahead.” Myungsoo retort. Hyunjoong politely nodded and the lawyer head out of the estate.

It’s almost midnight when the party ended. All the guests have left and the couple is now heading to their room. They just came from each of their mother’s room after ensuring that both are settled comfortably.

Hyejung sat on her bed and removed her shoes. Hyunjoong sat beside her and she scoots closer.

“Hyunjoong-ah, thank you for everything. For the surprise earlier this morning, for the party, for making this day very special.  I know you work hard for this and I really appreciate everything.” Hyejung uttered sincerely.

“Anything to make you happy, Buin. I’ll do everything for you.” Hyunjoong affectionately replied. He dropped a quick kiss on Hyejung’s forehead and continued. “I regret not contacting you after our show four years ago. And now that I have the chance I won’t let you slip away this time. I love you, Hyejung.I hope you believe in me. I’m willing to wait for you.”

Hyejung said nothing but just wrapped her arms around him. When she let go, she met his gaze, smiled and dropped a quick kiss on his lips.

“Shillang, I know you’re never a sucker for mushy words so I won’t say a lot of things. I love you. I love you for the man that you are. I cannot ask for anything more.” She replied with a smile.

Hyunjoong pulled and hugged her tighter.

“Go take a shower so we can sleep, Shillang.” Hyejung ordered. 

Hyunjoong nodded and head to his room. After about fifteen minutes, he came back to said goodnight. Hyejung was wearing a pair of black lace teddies and combing her hair on the. When she saw him she just smiled and took his hand. Hyunjoong followed her in a daze not knowing what to say.

“Will you stay with me tonight, Shillang?” Hyejung asked as she climbed on the bed.

Hyunjoong woke up from trance and replied with a smile. “You never need to ask, Buin.”

The next morning, Hyunjoong opened his eyes as the bright morning sun woke him up. He smiled as he felt warm breath on his neck and saw a sleeping Hyejung on his arms. He showered kisses on her face and her bare shoulder but she didn’t even budge.

“Guess I wore her out earlier.” He giggled.

Hyunjoong smiled and reached for something he secretly stashed on the bedside table the night before. When he successfully got it he gently put it in Hyejung’s arms – a beautiful Cartier bracelet.

Somewhere Over the Rainbow

Hello everyone! Im sorry for not updating for so long. I've been very busy and and then my father passed away just a month ago. I was out of touch with our fave couple for sometime but recently I find myself trying to write again. Maybe its also an outlet for me to occupy my mind and not think too much of unhappy thoughts.

Anyway, this is dedicated to our birthday girl, uri Buin- Hwangbo Hyejung. I wish you all the great things in life. May God continuously shower you with blessings.

Also this is for all my friends,online sisters and readers who encouraged me to write again. To Bebe and Ate Sue my promised chapter for you.

And to my Dad- though he never knew that Im a fanfic writer, I miss you so much. I am and will always be a Tatay's girl. I know you're happy where you are and please say hi to Girlie  for me.Watched over us, okay =)


Chapter 15

Hyejung was already running late. She promised to have dinner with Hyunjoong by seven and now its half past six but she’s still on her way home. Shooting for Muhan Girls was a bit delayed so they ended late. She just dropped by her restaurant and got some food and will just reheat it. Just when she arrived in her apartment building and parking her car, her phone rang. She grabbed the bag of food, walk towards the lift as she fumbled to answer the call.

“Hyunjoong-ah? Are you already in my place?” she asked.

“Yes. Where are you? I’m here with Matic standing in front of your door." He answered.

“ Gosh, don’t stand there. Someone might see you! Im already in the building.” She exclaimed.

“Then where will we go? I thought you’d be here by now. Ahhh, Buin, I can hear someone approaching. What will I do?” Hyunjoong sounded a bit rattled.

“Password! You know the password. 1004. Hurry and get inside.” Hyejung blurted out of nervousness.

“Got it! “ Hyunjoong answered and then Hyejung heard him open the door in a rush. Both took a sigh of relief. Just then Hyejung reached her floor and walk towards her place.

“Buin, that’s the code of the ring I gave you.” Hyunjoong stated with a grin.

“ Don’t make a big deal out of it. Come and open the door. I’m here already.” She replied in a forced serious tone.

 She waited impatiently and rushed inside the moment it opened. She walked towards the dining area with Hyunjoong trailing behind her.

“Hyunjoong-ah, next time call or text me before coming over. We don’t want for neighbors to see you coming here.” Hyejung reminded him.

Hyunjoong pulled a chair and watched as she began preparing their dinner. “I’m sorry if I wasn't able to inform you. Thought you’d be free for today when you invited me.” He replied sincerely.

Hyejung stopped and turned to face him. She saw him watching her and she can’t help but gave him a smile of forgiveness.

“Well, I was supposed to be home earlier but the taping got a bit delayed. I just dropped by at Shimsontang for our dinner. I hope you won’t mind eating this.” Hyejung explained.

 “Even ramen would be fine, as long as I’m eating with you.” He quipped, blushing as he realized the mushiness of what he said.

Hyejung laughed out loud, lightly smacking him by the shoulder. “I never thought I’ll hear you say such lines, Shillang.”

 “Ahhh..The things I do just to have a free meal.” He joked again earning another smack from her. “By the way, Buin, let me introduce Matic to you.” And he went back to the living room.

When he came back, the black and white border collie was walking beside him. Hyejung walk towards them and get acquainted with his pet. She gently stroked the canine’s fur and he seems to like it. Hyunjoong watched them fondly and let her enjoy for a while. Only the buzzer from the microwave prompted her to stand up and finished preparing their dinner. Hyunjoong send the dog back to the living room so they can start eating.

“How was the play, Buin?” Hyunjoong asked as they now sit in the living room after dinner. Hyejung was playing with Matic,the dog never leaving her side as soon as they stepped in the living room.

 “It was a good show. The actors were really great. I can say Myungsoo really made a right choice.” She replied.

“Hmmm...what else?” Hyunjoong prodded.

“We had dinner afterwards. The food and his company were nice. I already met his parents by the way.” She added nonchalantly.

“What? On your first date? He’s moving too fast!” Hyunjoong can’t help but be agitated.

“His parents wanted to watch the show. It just so happen that I came with him.” Hyejung explained.

“But, they would think that you two are going out.” He whined.

“Don’t be too suspicious Hyunjoong. Myungsoo explained it to them. And besides, there’s nothing wrong if we go out. You even agreed for us to meet, right?” she retort.

 Hyunjoong decided to just let it pass. He took a deep breath and asked where Jins is. Hyejung stood up and went to her room to fetch the puppy. He took the puppy from her when she sat beside him.

“Where do you plan to celebrate your birthday, Buin?” Hyunjoong asked after a few minutes of companionable silence.

“I don’t have any definite plans yet.” She shrugged.

“Would you want to spend it in Choi Estate? We can spend the weekend there. Invite your friends over. I’ll talk to Butler Sol. I’m sure he’ll agree to it.” He suggested.

“My friends are actually curious about the estate. It’ll be fun if we can have a pool party.” She ecstatically replied.

“Don’t worry about anything, Buin. Just free your schedule on your birthday and we’ll enjoy the weekend together.” Hyunjoong assured her with a smile.

Hyejung scoot closer and gave him a hug. “I’ll be looking forward to it Hyunjoong-ah.”

 It’s the night of August 15; Hwangbo' s busy packing her things for her party. Hyunjoong will arrive in while since he texted her that he’s already on his way. They decided to head to Choi Estate earlier so they can check the preparation. Just then she heard the door bell so she rushed and open the door to the smiling Hyunjoong.

“Good evening, Buin, ready to go?” he greeted.

“Yup. Just give me a minute so I can bring my bag here.” And she runs towards her room.

Hyunjoong followed her when he saw that she forgot to close the door.

 “Give me that bag, Buin.” Hyunjoong ordered which startled Hyejung.

“Yah! How did you get in here.” She asked.

“You left the door open so I followed. Your room’s very lovely." He simply replied and walked toward her.

Just then he noticed a familiar pink jacket on the bed. “Buin,is that our couple jacket? You still have it?

Hyejung blushed all the more. He didn't want her to see her room much more discover some things she kept from their make believe marriage. She grabbed her bag, handed it to Hyunjoong and walked out of the room. She then walked towards the other room to fetch Jins. She checked everything before they left the house.

“I’m so glad you still have that hoodie, Buin. Mine’s still okay. We’ll wear that together next time, okay.” He teased her.

Hyejung ignored his teasing. All the time they were driving smile was plastered on Hyunjoong’s face. They reached Choi Estate after almost two hours and Hyejung was already fast asleep in the passenger seat. Hyunjoong gently woke her up and told her to stay inside and wait for him to open her door. He assisted her as they walk towards the house. Butler Sol welcomed them warmly.

“Welcome back, Hyejung-ssi, Hyunjoong-ssi.”

“Good evening, Butler Sol. It’s nice to be back here. How’s everyone doing?” Hyejung greeted back.

“Everything’s fine, Hyejung-ssi. Advance happy birthday to you. I hope you’ll enjoy your party tomorrow. Hyunjoong-ssi has been preparing hard for it.” Butler Sol replied.

 “Ahh, Butler Sol. don’t let Buin know about our secret.” Hyunjoong joked with the older man.

“Thank you Butler Sol and Hyunjoong-ah, make sure I’ll enjoy the party, okay.” Hyejung teased him and they all laughed.

“I've prepared your rooms for tonight. You’ll be using the rooms you've occupied before. I hope that’s okay. By the way, if you still haven’t had dinner, I can ask the staff to prepare something for you.” Butler Sol informed them.

 “We already had dinner and it’s already late anyway. We’ll just call it a day for now. Hyejung’s been sleeping on the way here. Guess she’s already tired.” Hyunjoong politely refused.

 “We don’t mean to be of inconvenience to you Butler Sol. We’ll just head to our room now. Thank you for welcoming us.” Hyejung added.

The butler then assisted them to their room and said goodnight. Hyunjoong walked Hyejung to her room before heading to his room to changed. When he tried to check on her after taking a shower, he just smiled when he saw her already in deep slumber.

“Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you”

Hyejung woke up when she heard someone singing. She was surprised to see that it was Hyunjoong, singing and walking towards her with a cake in his hand.It is exactly 12 midnight- August16. She gingerly sat up when Hyunjoong sat by her bedside.

“Happy birthday, dear Buin. Happy birthday to you.” Hyunjoong finished singing. “Now make a wish and blow the candle, Yeobo.” He cajoled.

She closed her eyes and made a wish before blowing her cake. Hyunjoong placed the cake on the side table then rushed out of the room. Only after a few seconds he came back with a big bouquet of purple tulips in his hand. He again sat beside her and gave her the flowers.

“ Happy birthday, Love. I hope you like the little surprise.” Hyunjoong adoringly greeted her.

“Thank you, Shillang. Yes I love it. Thank you for spending this birthday with me.” She replied and reached out to him. Hyejung hugged him tightly and he hugged her back. When they let go, Hyunjoong let her lay back in bed as he sat by her side. He dropped a quick kiss on her lips and gently stroke her hair.

"Sleep now, Buin so you can rest for later's party. I'll just stay here for a while."

Hwangbo woke up with a big smile on her face. She sat up and look for Hyunjoong. She was surprised to see his room idle so she went back to hers. She tried calling him but he's not answering. Just when she was about to go down, she saw a note on her bedside table.

"Buin. I need to attend to something. I'll try to be back soonest.
