Meeting Hwangbo

This is not a fanfic. This is just to document my 3 day stalking experience in order to meet our lovely Buin – Hwangbo Hye Jung.

I have never been a fan girl before – then I watched Ssangchu couple in WGM. All things change after that.  I began downloading their videos, read fan fics and join fan group.  One of the reasons why I went to Korea early this year was to visit Shimsontang- Hwangbo’s resto.

Early last week when Hwangbo tweeted that she’s coming to the Philippines, speculation was that she’s going to Cebu. We were all surprised when she tweeted early Monday morning that she’s actually landing here in Manila.  I was attending a training then and when I checked Facebook and Twitter during my break it was flooded with updates.  JBph /Bubblezang ladies already went to Compassion Philippines’ office to check if they can see our lady love.  I texted a friend to advised them that I’m going to follow after my work. I braved the rush hour commute after the training so I can meet them up.  They told me that they weren’t able to meet her there so we’ll just go to a hotel where she‘s possibly be staying.  So off I go to Ortigas and met the JBph/Bubblezang ladies.  We went to Crowne Plaza where we waited for news.  Unfortunately there’s no sighting of HB in this hotel.  We met up with Cathy in The Fort to plan the next move.  Since no other information was received then, we decided to just call it a day at around 11PM but we’ll just keep our eyes and ears open for any news.

Second day of stalking- Tuesday.  I was still on training but I’m feeling so antsy. We still have no information as to where she’s staying. It’s not allowed to check FB and Twitter but I sneak in time and again using my phone just to get updates.  I was actually under the weather that day so I went home directly after work.  I was able to take a nap and I woke up around 6pm. I checked FB and lo and behold, news that Hwangbo was staying in Discovery Suites was posted. The JBph/Bubblezang ladies will meet up at Discovery. I was unsure in joining since I was not really feeling well. Then I realized that I won’t be able to sleep anyway just thinking of what will happen. If they will see Hwangbo I’m sure I will truly regret not going with them. So I took a really quick shower, hail a cab and rushed to Discovery.

When I arrived in the hotel other girls were already there. We cannot stay in the lobby coz it was just small. We tried to check if they have a bar or restaurant inside.  So the ten of us (if I remembered correctly) all trooped to the 22^nd flr café.  Thanks to free Wifi, we tweeted HB, informing her that we’re waiting. We received a lot of help and support from International and Filipino Hwangbo fans. Past 11pm, Cathy received a message to call Hwangbo’s friend.  We were all so nervous and excited.  So Cathy called the hotel’s reception asking them to connect the call to Hb’s friend. The reception wasn’t able to find that name so she asked to be connected to Hwangbo Hye jung instead . She was advised that HB’s line was busy. We were all so happy knowing that she’s really there. So after how many minutes, Mich tried calling again. Reception transferred her call and we were all holding our breath when she mouthed that the other line was ringing. Hb’s friend (I can’t remember her name) answered the phone and informed Mich that Hwangbo was already asleep.  Mich asked if it’s possible to just schedule a meet up but the friend said that she’s still not sure of their schedule for the next day.  The friend advised her to just call and check the next day. Mich just asked her to advise HB that we’ll visit the next day and she also left her and Cathy’s twitter account. After the call ended, plan for the next day was made. Nerie will buy the bag as gift for Buin and Mich will also buy some souvenirs. We’ll meet up around 7-8 in the evening. We then left the hotel at around 12 midnight.

Day 3-Wednesday. As soon as I woke up I checked Face book for any update.  Since there were no advised changes I texted Perrytel to check if she’d like to join.  I went to the office, do my everyday work although I was online almost the whole day.  I was scheduled to have a meeting from 5pm-6pm but good thing it was cancelled. Ate Ayen and I decided to meet up first in Megamall at around 6pm so we can have dinner before going to Discovery. Past 7pm, we headed to the hotel. There were five of us by then. Perry, Naomz, Nidy, Ate Yen and me. We met Fudge Orange in the lobby then we went up to the 22^nd floor. In total, there were twenty three of us waiting for Hwangbo to come down.  While Cathy’s group went up to the 41^st flr where Compassion seminar was on going, we stayed at the café chatting with the other JBPher’s.  Half past eight if Im not mistaken, we heard a little commotion near the entrance of the café and Precy said “Nandyan na sya, wag maingay”. I think my heart stopped beating for a while.  I saw Hwangbo approaching and we walked towards her.  She was just dressed in shorts and t shirt and without any make up but she was really so beautiful.  She started signing pictures and magazines and when someone asked if we can hug her, with her very distinct voice she said “Hug, Hug”.  All those time I was just staring at her. I tried taking picture but in the end only one came out okay.  While signing, she asked “Maganda, maganda and we all answered that yes, she’s very pretty. Then she said, “pogi, pogi” to which someone asked, who’s pogi.  She said, just pogi.  After more than five minutes, Mich and Cathy told us that it’s time for Hwangbo to go and we now need to take group picture.  That’s when Shimty arrived with a crew and camera. After taking pictures, the lovely Hwangbo left.

When we tried to settle down, I tried looking for my R2song album cover.  That’s when I realized that it was not signed.  I don’t know why but I didn’t feel bad even after this. I was still so dazed and mesmerized.  I just took my seat and calmly ate nachos.  I also called my friend, Bee to just simply tell her that we already met HB.  I guess I was too stunned and still not within my senses even after she already left. After settling the bill, our group left Discovery Suites with big smile on our face. We also had dinner at Mc Donald’s chatting about the whole experience. It was already midnight when the group separate ways.

Until now I can’t believe that I was able to meet Hwangbo in person.  She was so down to earth and really very accommodating. No wonder why she has so many fans and friends.  The whole experience of stalking and meeting her is very memorable to me.  Yes. I lack sleep for 3 days. Yes, it was tiring but it was all worth it.  I never regret anything. And now I can say that I’m truly a certified fan girl.
