The Curse

As requested here's an epilogue for all of you! Written while I was on a post birthday vacation (LOL just sharing). Anyways, just enjoy and hope you can send me love! Ciao!

Epilogue

It was already six in the evening of August 16 and Hyunjoong was breaking into sweat. All the lights in the living room were out and the only light was from the bathroom with its door slightly ajar. He already prepared everything and all he’s waiting for was his wife. Hyejung will be coming from a photo shoot in Busan and they haven’t seen each other in three days. She had sent him a message, informing him that she’s already on her way and will arrive in about ten minutes.  The cake placed on top of the table almost fell when he hit the table’s side when the doorbell rang.

“She’s here!” he nervously whispered and lit the candle on the cake. He carefully walked towards the door to let his wife in.

On the other side of the door, Hyejung was getting impatient when he didn’t open the door at once. She really missed her husband and can’t wait to see him again. She knew that he’s already home because he said he’ll wait for her when she texted him. She was about to punched in the code when she heard the lock clicked. She was surprised to saw Hyunjoong standing, waiting for her with a cake on his hand. When she walked towards him he began to sing…

“Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday dear Buin, Happy birthday to you.”

Hwangbo clapped when Hyunjoong finished his song. 

“Thank you, Shillang. I honestly forgot that it’s my birthday! Come on let’s get inside so you can greet me properly.” She then pushed him towards the living room leaving her suit cases by the door.

“ Buin, come on! The candles are melting.  Make a wish before you blow them out.” Hyunjoong ordered.

Hyejung closed her eyes and made a wish. Once done she counted one to three then blow out the candles. Just when she finished, lights flooded the living room and party poppers were opened. A loud cheer greeted her as well.

“Happy Birthday Hyejungssi!”

Baek Boram, Song Eunnie and the rest of the Muhan girls as well as Selina were there. Andy,Erick and Junjin were standing on the side smiling, and her Mom was standing beside the boys. Hwangbo ran towards her and gave her a big hug.

“I missed you Omma.” She whispered to her Mom.

“Are you a baby, Jungie! You’re already thirty three and yet you act like a ten year old. “Her Mom jokingly scolded her. “ Let go and thank your husband first. He’s been preparing for this surprise since last week.”

Hyejung kissed her Mom’s cheeks before running towards Hyunjoong.  When she reached his side, she gave him a big smile before kissing his lips.

“Thank you for the surprise, Shillang. I really appreciate it.”

“It’s my pleasure, Buin.” Hyunjoong replied. “I have another surprise for you later. “He whispered so only the two of them can hear it. Hyejung just kissed his cheeks as a reply.

“Cut it out you two. We’re all starving!” Eunnie shouted and startled the couple which made everyone laughed.

Hyunjoong led them all to the dining room. He commissioned a popular restaurant to cater food for this celebration. The guests were surprised with the feast. After dining they head to the living room to watched the couple’s wedding video while wine was served. Hwangbo just marveled at how Hyunjoong was able to prepare all of these when he was also very busy. She then stood up to go to the rest room when suddenly she felt dizzy but still continued on her way. Hyunjoong who was chatting with Andy, excused himself to check her wife. He was already near her when she suddenly fainted, so he made a mad dash just in time for him to catch her. Hwangbo’s Mom and friends panicked at what they saw, and it was Junjin who called the ambulance.

“ Buin, Buin, come on, wake up. Tell me what’s wrong?”  Hyunjoong said while holding on to his wife.

“ Jungie-ah,  baby, open your  eyes. Don’t scare Omma. You broke the curse right. You’re already married.”  Hwangbo’s Mom chattered. Song Eunnie, seeing how Hwangbo’s Mom was so tensed pulled her on the side and let her sat down. Junjin announced that the paramedics are on their way up, Boram run towards the door and ushered them in as soon as she saw them. The paramedics lifted Hwangbo and lay her on the stretcher. Hyunjoong kept on holding to her hand even as the paramedics wheeled her out on the house. He went with them in the ambulance. The Muhan Girls, the Shinwa boys together with Hwangbo’s mom followed them.

Hyunjoong was waiting nervously outside the emergency room. He’s so shocked at what happened. Hwangbo never complained of being sick or feeling any pain. She was well and healthy.  It can’t be because of the curse. She’s married to him and they love each other. He was in deep thought when the doctor who examined Hwangbo came out. He asked Hyunjoong to follow him. Hyunjoong saw Hwangbo’s Mom approaching them so he asked her to come with him. Whatever it is that the doctor needed to tell him, he thought that her Mom should know.

“Mr. Kim does your wife work a lot?” the doctor began as soon as they were all seated.

“She just came back from an event in Busan. Normally, she’ll have taping twice a week. “Hyunjoong honestly answered.

“Does she complain of being dizzy or getting tired easily? “The doctor asked again.

“No doctor. She’s healthy. Just tell it to me straight. Is she sick? Does she need to be admitted in the hospital? Anything, doctor.  Just give it to her. “ Hyunjoong  babbled on. Hwangbo’s Mom started crying while holding on to Hyunjoong’s arms.

“Mr. Kim, what I can suggest is to ask your wife to take at least one week rest. She experienced fatigue causing her to faint. No need to worry too much.” The doctor replied.

Hyunjoong and his mother in law took a sigh of relief after hearing about Hyejung’s condition.

“By the way Mr. Kim, we’ll have Mrs. Kim stay here for the night. Another doctor will be coming over to examine her. Here’s her contact information.

Hyunjoong’s eyes almost popped out of its socket when he read what’s written on the card.

Dr. Park Hye Min

Obstetrician/Gynecologist

“Doc...Doctor... Could it be that my wife is pregnant?" He stuttered as he asked. “ Dr. Park is the best in mother and child care area right?”

“You are correct Mr. Kim.” The doctor replied with a bright smile. “Based on initial test your wife is around six weeks pregnant.  Congratulations!”

Hyunjoong was speechless. He’s going to be a father. His happiness is over flowing. He turned to his mother in-law, now crying because of joy. She gave him a hug and said.

“You have to take good care of them Hyunjoong-ah.” 

“I will, Omma. I definitely will.” He replied sincerely.

“Mr. Kim, your wife has been transferred to room 501. You can go and share the good news with her.”  Dr. Kao advised him.

Hyunjoong head on to see Hwangbo while his mother in law will share the good news with her friends. He found her sleeping soundly so he just dragged a chair and sat near her bed while holding on to her hand.  He just stared at her beautiful face, so excited to share the news with her. When Hyunjoong saw her stir a bit, he decided to play a little prank on her. He put on a sad face as he waited for her to open her eyes.

“Shillang, what happened? Why am I in a hospital? Hwangbo asked in confusion as she saw where she was.

“You fainted, Buin. The doctor needs to monitor you for some time.” He answered in a very gloomy voice.

“Something wrong, Shillang? Am I sick? “She asked with nervousness.

“The doctor advised me that we need to see her every month. We will only know what it is after about eight months.” Still not giving up he pretended to be sad.

“ Shillang, I’m scared.  This is something serious, right? And why do I need to wait for eight months? Can we see the doctor now?”  Hwangbo who’s very scared blabber on.

“Dr. Park Hye Min will be coming soon, don’t worry Buin.” He simly replied with a smile.

“Dr. Park Hye Min? That sounds familiar. Do you have my purse with you, Shillang?” she asked. 

Hyunjoong search for her wallet on the bag her Mom brought and gave it to her when he found it. She grabbed it and began searching for the doctor’s business card.

“I found it! She’s an OB-Gyn and I met her on our Muhan girl’s episode. You said we have to see her every month and we have to wait for eight months.” Hwangbo chattered  on, while trying to put the pieces together.

Hyunjoong broke into a big smile as he watched Hwangbo’s facial expression turned from worrisome to pure delight. 

“I ‘am pregnant, Shillang? We’re going to be parents?” she asked confirming her guess but tears were already rolling down her cheeks.

Hyunjoong reached out for her and enveloped her in his embrace. 

“Yes, Buin.  We are going to be parents. Thank you for this wonderful gift.” 

“I’m very happy Shillang. This is what I wished for when I blew the candles earlier. I really wanted to give you a child. This is an answered prayer.” Hwangbo confessed.

“The doctor advised that you need to take at least a week’s rest. You need to be more careful now.” Hyunjoong informed her.

“Don’t worry, Shillang. I’ll follow the doctor’s order. Our baby comes first. Beside, my Shillang is a Hallyu star. He can provide for us.” She teasingly replied.

“Definitely, Buin. I’ll work double time just to provide for you and our baby.” Hyunjoong answered with confidence. “Now, do you want to eat anything?” 

“I just want to eat apples.” Hwangbo shyly replied.

Hyunjoong went to get some apples in the fridge and cut it into pieces. He then fed it to her eagerly and Hwangbo ate it with gusto. Then all of a sudden she asked.

“ Shillang, you said you have another surprise for me. Can I have it now?” 

“It’s in our house, Buin. You’ll see it by tomorrow.” He replied with a mysterious smile.

Hwangbo just nodded and he continued feeding her. The Muhan girls and Shinwa boys came in with gifts to offer. All were very excited for the couple and offered to be godparents for their baby.  Dr Park arrived at around nine in the evening. She just gave Hwangbo vitamins and told her that she can be discharged the next day. She also reminded her not to forget her next pre-natal check up and take extra precaution when she’s working. The couple promised that they will follow the doctor’s advice and will see her for the next check up. 

The next day, Hwangbo was discharged early. Hyunjoong drove them home and he can’t help but to be overly protective of her. He didn’t let her walk and insisted to use a wheelchair to get to their car or else he’ll carry her all the way. As soon as they arrived home, Hyunjoong blindfolded her for the surprised he promised.  She just followed as he led her. Hyunjoong counted and at the count of three, he removed the blindfold. Tears began to well on Hwangbo’s eyes when she saw his surprise.

A fully furnished baby’s room.

“I didn’t expect for us to use this very soon but I also prayed hard. “ Hyunjoong said and led her to check the room.

The room radiates a sunny ambiance. The walls were painted yellow and decked with hand painted red tulips. A white crib with matching Moses basket was placed on the right side of the room. The built in cabinets were very spacious and beside it a changing table was set up, all also in white. The couple head on to check room’s bathroom and Hwangbo can’t help but be overwhelmed with it.  This time its painted powder blue, the ceiling was white like clouds. The bathtub was also in powder blue with swimming ducks on its side. 

“Shillang, you never fail to amaze me. This is like a child’s fantasy room.” Hwangbo uttered as she looked around the room.

“I only want the best for you and our baby. This is nothing compared to the happiness you have brought to my life.” Hyunjoong replied as he stood behind her, his hands placed on top of her still flat tummy.

“I love you, Shillang. I know it’s funny but I ‘am grateful of the “Curse”. It led me back to you.” 

“I guess in a way that’s true. But I believe you have set a curse at me when we started in our show four years ago.” Hyunjoong replied.

“Hmmm... and what curse would that be?” Hwangbo asked while trying to hold her laugh.

“That I can love no one but you.” Hyunjoong answered while gently turning her to face him.

“I think we were both cursed then. I love you Shillang. “ Hyejung said while looking straight into his eyes.

“I love you, Buin.” Hyunjoong whispered before his lips met hers for a well deserved kiss.

And they live happily ever after. (lol)
