Chapter 5

Hwangbo was back in her office. After finishing Hyunjoong’s house, she’ll be doing the rooms for Crowne Hotel. Busy checking the lay out and proposal from suppliers, she was startled when she heard her phone ring. It was Kaye- her secretary.

“Ms Hwangbo, you’ve got a delivery here. Can I come in and gave it to you?” She asked.


“I see. Okay. Thank you.” She simply replied and hangs up.


She heard the door open and gave Kaye a smile. She was curious at the impish grin of her secretary as she hand over a big bouquet of yellow tulips to her.


“Kaye, would you know who send these flowers?” She asked

“There was no name on the delivery receipt. You’re so lucky Hwangbossi. I never received such lovely flowers from my boyfriend even when he was still courting me.” Kaye replied with envy. She bowed and left Hwangbo to check the package. Hwangbo then checked the small card attached on the bouquet. Her heart skipped a beat when she read the message.

“Aissh, this guy.” She uttered with smile and kept the note on her table drawer.


She became so busy the whole day. Kaye just bought her sandwich on the deli store near their office for her lunch. She was busy talking to a lot of supplier and contacting them to ensure that all we be ready for the next project. It was four in the afternoon when she heard her phone ring and she picked it up immediately not bothering to check whose calling thinking that it was from her supplier.


“Yah, Hyejungssi. Don’t you know how to say thank you!" The man on the other line exclaimed.


“ Hyunjoong?" Hwangbo confirmed.


“Yes. Is my number not saved on your phone?" He enquired.


“I saved it. It’s just that I didn’t check before I answer the call." She explained.


“Didn’t you receive the flowers? I was waiting for you to say thank you.” He blabbered.


“I did. And thank you. I’m sorry I ‘am really so busy so I haven’t got the time to call you." Hwangbo replied.


“Oh, I see. You’re forgiven then. I’ll hang up now so I won’t disturb you. See you soon!” and Hyunjoong hang up before she can even reply.

Hyunjoong also became so busy with events and preparing for his album. But even so, he never forgets to text Hwangbo everyday. Sometimes he’ll just say good morning and or goodnight. Hwangbo will just reply because Hyunjoong always call her if he didn’t receive any reply from her. It’s been two weeks now since they last saw each other. It’s eleven in the evening and Hwangbo had just finished her shower and now getting ready to sleep when she heard the door bell ring. She just grabbed her robe and head to the door. She was surprised to see his smiling face when she checked the intercom. She hurriedly opened the door fearing that somebody might see him.


“Hyunjoong-ah! What are you doing here?” and she grabbed his arm to let him in. She checked the hallway before closing the door. She took a sigh of relief when she saw that no one was around her area.


“Come on and dress up. Let’s go have dinner somewhere.” He ordered with a smile.


“Do you know what time is it now? Hyunjoong, it’s already eleven in the evening and I’m sleepy and exhausted.” She whined.


“But we haven’t been out for long. What kind of friendship is that? We need to spend time together. “He reasoned out.


“We’ll do it some other time. For now, go home and let me sleep.” She replied.


“No, there’s no other time. I’ll be leaving tomorrow and will be back next week. Please, Hyejung-ah.” He again pleaded.


Hwangbo take a really good look at him. She can see dark circles under his eyes and it seems like he had just remove his makeup. And having him here, cutely begging her to go out with him, melt her heart.


“Okay, okay, let me get dress first. But next time, don’t just come in here disrupting my beauty sleep, ok?” she uttered in resignation.


“Thank you Jungie-ah! I’ll treat you nicely.” He replied with that silly grin.


Hwangbo dressed up quickly, she just put on skinny jeans, a racer back top and her brown hooded jacket. When she went out, he saw Hyunjoong, now playing with Charley.


“Are you ready?” he asked with Charley on his arms. She nodded and Hyunjoong put Charley back on her bed. He also said goodbye to Chelsea and Cherrie and then they left. When they reached his car and both were comfortably seated, Hwangbo asked.


“Where are we going in this ungodly hour?”


“Somewhere." He replied with a smile. When Hwangbo raised her brows, he just added. “You can take a napand just enjoy the ride. I’ll wake you up when we get there.” She just scoffed at him, and then closed her eyes.

It was a light caress on her face that woke her up. She gently open her eyes and she straightened up quickly when she met his eyes, his face only inches from hers.


“You snore!” he teased.


“I do not. “She countered. “And why were you hovering over me?” she added.


“Just because.” He simply replied. “Come on now, were here!” and he get out of the car.


“Aissh, this guy!" and Hwangbo followed him out.


She was surprised to see that they were near Namsan Tower.


“What are we doing here?” Hwangbo asked in confusion.


“We’ll just look around. Honestly, this is my first time here. I want to ride the cable car just like Jun Pyo.” He explained.


“But I guess it’s already closed. No one’s here anymore.” She replied.


“I’ve asked someone to arrange this. Let’s go!” and he grabbed her hand as he ran.


When they reach the cable car station, Mr Jeong was already waiting for them. Hyunjoong was very excited. He was just standing the whole ride and all she can do was to watched him. He’s like a kid in his first Ferris wheel ride. When they reached the other side, Hyunjoong ran towards the love lock tree.


“Jungie-ah, do you believe in this?” he asked as he carefully inspects the locks.


“No. But when you’re young and in love doing this is cute.” She explained.


“Would you like to put our lock here, even just us friend?” he shyly asked.


Hwangbo laughed out loudly, making him blushed deeper.


“No! It’s just for lovers. Aigoo! Come on, let’s go down!” and she even playfully hit his shoulders. She ran down the stairs and Hyunjoong has no choice but to run after her. When they reached the grounds, they took a sit at the bench under the cherry blossom tree and enjoy the scenery in companionable silence. After sometime, Hyunjoong suddenly stood up, again, grabbed Hwangbo’s hand and pull her up.


“Let’s go karaoke in Hongdae!” Hyunjoong shouted and together they ran towards his car laughing their hearts out.


Only a few karaoke house was open then. Hyunjoong tried to look for something he can use as a disguise but Hwangbo asked him not to. She called her friend who owns a karaoke house in Hongdae and this is where they went. They enjoyed singing and goofing around while sharing beer. It’s almost four in the morning when they decided to go home. They just took a cab since both of them had a few drinks. Hyunjoong asked the driver to drop her first. When they arrived at her apartment, Hwangbo dropped a kiss on Hyunjoong’s cheeks then waved goodbye. Hyunjoong then head home, a big smile plastered on his beautiful face.
