I decided not to put this blog in private.Honestly, writing is my way of de-stressing and your comments and the number of hits in the counter cheer me up. 

Dedicated to the six member group, here's chapter 17..Welcome to the world Victoria!!

Chapter 17

Hyunjoong knows that he probably be charged for over speeding but he doesn’t care. This is the first time after a month of taking a rest from his busy schedule that he’ll be home late. If only that the CF shoot wasn’t schedule months before Hyejung came back, he would have cancelled it or asked for reschedule. This morning, he dropped Hyejung in the office and told her that he’ll still pick her up and just wait for his call. It’s just that they encounter a lot of technical problem hence causing a delay. The shoot was only until five in the afternoon but it extended till seven in the evening. He tried calling Hyejung to inform that he’ll be late but she’s not answering. As soon as the shoot finished, he drove straight to Hwangbo Interiors.  He saw Junjin ushering Bea out of the office. He runs towards them to ask if Hyejung is still there. Fear rose when Bea told him that Hyejung went home early and not feeling well.  He then runs back to his car and drove home.  He tried calling Hyejung but she’s still not picking up. When he called their home phone, Beka told him that she’s in her room resting. It calmed him a bit but he’ll only feel at peace when he’s home with her in his arms.

As soon as he reached their house, he just haphazardly parked his car .Trying to catch his breath he stood by the bedroom’s door and gently opens it so as not to startle Hyejung who might already be sleeping. His heart almost leaped out from his chest when he saw her standing in the middle of the room, a phone in one hand, panic and fear on her face as she look down at the pool of water by her feet.

“I think my water bag broke. Let’s go to the hospital.” Hyejung told him with shaking voice.

He didn’t know how he was able to carry her out of the room, ordered Beka to get the bags and drive towards the hospital. He’s now again driving beyond the speed limit but who cares when all he can think of is to arrive at the hospital as soon as possible. He was startled when Hyejung although in pain grabbed his phone on the dashboard and call the doctor.

“Hello, Doctor Park, where on our way to the hospital. I think my water bag broke about ten minutes ago. Yes, doctor. I’ll hang up now. I can feel another contraction coming. We’ll see you in the hospital.”

Hyunjoong waited for her to put down the phone before he spoke. “You should have let me call the doctor,Jungie”.

“I don’t want you to lose your focus on the road.” She was able to reply before a sudden pain hit her.

“Remember the breathing exercise honey, come on. Follow me... hee hee, ho.” Hyunjoong ordered. Hyejung had her eyes shut and not saying anything so he cajoled again. “Honey, come on please, this will help you... hee, hee, ho.”  He repeats the breathing exercise they learn from the birthing class.

Instead of following him, Hyejung let out a wail as pain hit her again. Hyunjoong stepped down on the accelerator to speed up, more worried now that the pain hits Hyejung not so far apart. He can see that she’s now drenched in sweat even if the car air conditioner is in full blast and she kept her eyes shut.

“Hee, hee, ho, honey come on, follow me.” Hyunjoong began again but his voice is now shaking as he looked at Hyejung.

“Will you please stop that? It’s annoying me. I will do it by myself.” Hyejung snapped. Her face still contorted with pain.

“But Jungie you need to do it. I just want to help you.” Hyunjoong replied.

“Sing!” Hyejung ordered.

“What? “  He asked back in confusion.

“You want to help me? Then sing.”  She barked at him. She yelped again with the contraction and tried the breathing exercise. Hyunjoong have no choice but to follow her.

Hyejung shrieked as another contraction hit her and Hyunjoong reached out for her hand.

“Jungie, were almost here. Just hang on ok.” And just as he finished his sentence, they reached the emergency room entrance. He just stopped the car and then ran towards Hyejung‘s side and pick her up. A medical team was already waiting for them with Dr. Park.

“So Hyejung, your little one cannot wait anymore. Ready to get this ball rolling?”  Dr.Park asked while trying to comfort her.

Hyejung nodded with a smile despite the pain she’s having and Hyunjoong just followed as they wheeled her to the delivery room. Nurses stopped him at the door which startled him.

“No, I want to be with Hyejung. I am the father’s baby. Let me in.” he insisted.

“Sir, we just need to get you in scrubs. We will let you in. Just calm down.” The nurses gently explained.

Hyunjoong felt ashamed at his behavior but he’s just too worried about Hyejung. He asked the nurse if he can use the phone first before getting into the scrubs. Might as well inform Hyejung’s family about her condition. He tried calling Junho and he was glad that he answered by the 2^nd ring.

“Hello, Junho Hyung. Hyejung might be giving birth anytime. We’re in the hospital right now. Can you inform Omma and Appa.”  He immediately ended the call when Junho told him that they’ll come as soon as possible.

When Hyunjoong was ushered into the delivery room, Hyejung was already propped up and Dr Park was checking on her. He almost back out but the doctor talked to him.

“Hyunjoongssi, it’s not gonna be long and your baby’s coming out. We just need for her to be fully dilated. And I guess you’re her birthing coach right? ”

“Yes, Doctor Park.” And he moved towards Hyejung. He wiped the sweat running down her neck and saw how tired she looks. “Hyejung-ah, I’ll be here okay. We can do it.” And he kissed her temples. 

Hyejung just nodded and let out another wail with the contraction. Hyunjoong saw the unshed tears on her eyes and he wished he could take the pain away from her. After only about five minutes she felt another contraction and this time it’s stronger that her tears started falling. Doctor Park checked her once again and announced that Hyejung’s ready.  She instructed Hyunjoong to just let Hyejung hold on to him as she tried pushing the baby out.

“Come on, Hyejung just one more push, I can see the baby’s head.”  Dr Park coaxed. 

Hyejung’s been pushing for quite some time now. It’s more than an hour since they have arrived. She’s already exhausted and really having a hard time.

“Come on, baby. We’re almost there. You want to see Victoria, right?” Hyunjoong gently whispered.

“My baby, I wanna see her. I wanna go home.” Hyejung replied, her voice hoarse from exerting too much energy.

“We will see her soon. Just one more push. Come on babe. “He gently cajoled. Hyejung nodded, her eyes shut and pushed one more time with all her might.

“Okay, the heads out, good Hyejung! Come on, here’s one shoulder and okay, we got little Vicky!”  Dr. Park rattled in excitement.

Hyejung slumped as Hyujoong supported her tired body. He dropped a kiss on her lips just as Dr Park called him.

“Hyunjoong-ah, you need to cut the cord. “

He walked towards the end of the bed and saw the squalling baby. She’s still got blood all over her but definitely she’s the most beautiful baby he’s ever seen. He hesitantly got the clippers from the doctor and cut the cord as instructed. He then reached out to pick the baby but Dr Park moved her away.

“Yah! Excited Appa. Let us clean your daughter first and we’ll bring her back. We’ll move Hyejung in her room in a while. Now, let your family know that Hyejung’s okay. I bet they’re all waiting outside. I’ll tend to Hyejung so we can transfer her in her room okay? “

Hyunjoong dropped a kiss on Hyejung’s forehead and told her that he’ll go and meet their family. When he opened the door of the delivery room, Hyejung’s father and mother, Junho and Jinri flanked around him.

“Hyunjoong-ah how’s my daughter? The baby?” Hyejung’s mother asked worriedly.

“Omma, Hyejung’s okay. She’s tired but she’s good. The baby, Omma, she’s beautiful.”  Hyunjoong replied with pride.

The parents took a sigh of relief and Junho and Jinri patted his back.

“When are they going to move Hyejung into her room?” Junho asked.

“She’ll be transferred in a while. Dr.Park is still checking on her.” He responded.

Hyunjoong heard his name called so he went to see the nurse. He was informed that they’ll bring Victoria once Hyejung’s settled.  The nurse told him that the baby is in the nursery sleeping. Hyunjoong called Hyejung’s family so they can see little Vicky.  They head to the nursery where he immediately spotted her daughter. She was wrapped in a pink blanket, sleeping soundly.

“ Hyunjoong-ah, Victoria is really beautiful. “ the proud grandmother uttered.

“I know, Omma. I’ll enroll her in taekwondo lessons at an early age so no guys can come near her.” He seriously replied.

“You better see to it.” His father in law added making everyone laugh.

When Hyejung opened her eyes, she looked around and found out that she’s already in her private room.  She ran her hands on her tummy out of habit and missed the bulge that was previously there. She turned to look at her side and only then that she noticed Hyunjoong, his head pillowing his arms which was holding her other hand. Hyejung run her free hand on his hair and he automatically woke up...

“Hey, Sweetie. Are you okay? You need anything?” Hyunjoong asked in a raspy voice.

“Where’s Victoria? “  She asked in reply. Hyunjoong saw her attempt to sit up so he fixed her bed a little upright.

“She’s still in the nursery. She was sleeping when we saw her earlier. Your Mom, Dad and brothers already left. They were here but didn’t wake you up. They’ll be back tomorrow.” He replied.

“Hyunjoong-ah, we need to talk.” Hyejung started but then they heard a knock and the door opens.

“Hyejungssi, Hyunjoongssi, look who we have here.”  The nurse announced with a smile as she hand the baby over to Hyejung.  Hyejung eagerly reached for her and tears started falling as she stares at Victoria. Hyunjoong stood up and sat beside her so he can see her closer.

“She’s beautiful, she looks like you but I can also see a part of me in her.” Hyunjoong uttered in amazement. Hyejung just nodded with a smile. She counted the little fingers on Victoria’s hand and peppered kiss her chubby cheeks. Every pain and hurt she felt vanished when she finally cradled her daughter in her arms.

The orderlies came with a counselor who will explain and discuss breast feeding. Hyejung listened intently and when Victoria started to whimper, the counselor helped her out.  Hyunjoong can’t help but chuckled when Hyejung gasped as Vicky greedily latched on her breast. Hyejung smiled as she heard the funny sound the baby’s making as she eats .The counselor and the nurses left after ensuring that everything’s okay.

Hyejung closed her eyes as she savored the indescribable feeling she has right now. Looking at her sleeping baby in her arms as she gave her nourishment, she vowed that she’ll do anything to keep her safe and happy. When she met Hyunjoong’s eyes, unknowingly her tears started rolling down.

“Hyunjoong-ah, thank you for giving Victoria to me. Whatever happens I will always be grateful for this very precious gift.”

Hyunjoong gently wiped her tears away and dropped a kiss on her lips. He knows that something’s bothering her as he saw certain sadness when she looked at him, but he’ll let her rest first.  For now he’s contented and at peace just watching over the two girls he loved the most.
